Undertale AU Wiki

Welcome to the Undertale AU Wiki, the main place for documenting Undertale's AUs. If you wish to contribute, just know that it is REQUIRED for you to read the Rules and Guidelines and the Policy of the Wiki BEFORE doing so.

As this is an AU Wiki, this wiki is NOT meant for characters. The Undertale OC Wiki exists for those. This Wiki is also not meant for AUs that do not have presence anywhere else, and those should be put on the Undertale AU Ideas Wiki.

"Hence, your depravity becomes painfully clear when even I had to step in to do something."
– Quote from the main page of the Wattpad

Rusted Fates: ACT 1 is a Backstory AU of Undertale, created by Trackrays. It takes place during the 19th century in the United States, two centuries before the events of Undertale; it is also the prequel to the main story, Rusted Fates: ACT 2, which is planned to be started after ACT 1 is complete.

Due to a slowly deteriorating economy on the Surface, Henrik (the protagonist) decides to explore Mt. Ebott, intrigued by the vague rumors surrounding it. Although he originally intends to capitalize off its untouched resources, he ultimately tumbles down, falling into the Underground. There, he is forced to stave off several monsters intent on capturing his Soul for varying motives, as well as defeat the King of Monsters - Asgore Dreemurr - to return to the Surface.

Characters[]

Undertale Characters[]

Asgore Dreemurr[]

Unchanged from the original Undertale, Asgore remains a kind yet dutiful monarch. However, in ACT 1, he has only collected 3 human Souls preceding Henrik's fall to the Underground, namely the Souls of Patience, Integrity and Perseverance.

W.D. Gaster[]

Although only briefly mentioned, W.D. Gaster is currently the Royal Scientist. He seems to lengthily rant about his findings to Asgore on occasion, who understands little of his words and only nods in polite acknowledgement.

Added Characters[]

Henrik "Henry" Valle[]

The protagonist of the story. Henrik is a young American adult, bearing a tall yet slim figure - and a deceivingly strong one. As the nation's economy is collapsing, with smaller and local ones following suit, Henrik chooses to work several jobs - some being a blacksmith, lumberjack, butcher, and a hunter - so that he can sustain himself without relying on anyone else. Although his skin is quite fair and has little to no tan, it is calloused and rough from a lack of self-care and consistent work.

Henrik wields the Soul of Justice, and thus uses a Colt 1860 Army as his primary weapon. However, he is also adept with an axe and several types of knives, owing to his multiple professions. Although how he learnt the former is currently unknown, he is fluent in both Russian and English yet chooses to speak in the latter.

Henrik's Father[]

Although not present in the story and presumably deceased, they are briefly mentioned in Chapter 1 as being an uncaring yet efficient parental figure for Henrik. Due to their strained relationship, Henrik only kept the possessions which had utility for his normal purposes - all other keepsakes, such as photographs, were stated to be burnt.

Locations[]

Undertale Locations[]

Mt. Ebott[]

Remains unchanged. However, it is now located in the United States, an unknown distance away from Broughton Village.

Added Locations[]

Broughton Village[]

A dilapidated village slowly crumbling apart from rust, due to the high amount of uncoated iron in the village's constructions. Most denizens hoard "rust killers" to counteract this, but many still fall victim to tetanus owing to a lack of medicine. It is notable for being a hybrid of a rural village and a somewhat-modern town; however, the likely explanation is that the lack of supplies from their nearby town caused its infrastructure to deteriorate.

Despite being rural, it somehow has taxis.

Story[]

The rest of the story cannot be told yet.

Trivia[]

  • The original Rusted Fates would have been what is now planned to be Rusted Fates: ACT 2.
  • Chapters for Rusted Fates: ACT 1 are released very slowly owing to the size of each chapter, in addition to other reasons.
  • Henrik is notably sarcastic, but expresses it via his actions instead of his words.
  • Asgore frequently converses with his flowers, having no one else to speak to save for W.D. Gaster.
  • The cover image took around 15 minutes to make with Photoshop. The author acknowledges the lack of effort put into it.
