Undertale AU Wiki

Welcome to the Undertale AU Wiki, the main place for documenting Undertale's AUs. If you wish to contribute, just know that it is REQUIRED for you to read the Rules and Guidelines and the Policy of the Wiki BEFORE doing so.

As this is an AU Wiki, this wiki is NOT meant for characters. The Undertale OC Wiki exists for those. This Wiki is also not meant for AUs that do not have presence anywhere else, and those should be put on the Undertale AU Ideas Wiki.

Templates Policy

This is the policy page for the structuring of Templates. Most templates are divided into three groups: Header Templates, Heading Templates, and Image Templates. Header Templates are templates that go on the top of the page before all other information on the page, Heading Templates are templates that go inside the different sections of the page sectioned off by Headings. Image Templates only go on file pages. The only templates that are required are Infobox AU (for the succinct storage and quick/easy access to basic information) and OtherWikis (for linking to a dedicated wiki for that AU if such a wiki exists—is not required otherwise).

The following is a list of all used Header Templates in the order in which they should appear on the page.

The following is a list of all used Heading Templates that should be used somewhere in a section, typically at the top.

The following is a list of all used Image Templates in the order in which they should appear on the page.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact an Administrator.

Infobox AU

It is required that the minimum amount of information within the Infobox be as follows:

  • Name
  • Author
  • Date Published
  • Link
  • Type
  • Sub-Type (if applicable)
  • Tone
  • Medium

Unless the field is listed above as required, feel free to leave the field blank.

Name

Within the "Name" field of the infobox, add name of the AU. The information in this field will likely be identical to the article's name unless the name of the AU is against the article name policy of this wiki.

Image & Caption

Within the "Image" field, add an image relating to the AU; preferably a cover or logo. Within the "Caption1" field, credit the creator of the image, following this wiki's crediting policy.

Author

Within the "Author" field, write down the current owner of the AU, regardless of whether or not the current owner is the same as the creator. A link must be provided to where the owner is called that, along with the affiliated Author Icon. If the owner is a team of people, write down the team name—it does not require a link, though it is recommended it be added anyway. If there is no team name, write down the name of each owner, following the original format (link to where they're called that, author icon); each unique person's name should be separated by a solid line (---- on a new line in-code).

Author Icons are to be used in affiliation with the Author's linked name, put after the name in Supertext [FANDOMUser {{FANDOM User}}]. The Author's FANDOM account, if applicable, will always be listed first, followed by all other websites in alphabetical order. If no corresponding icon exists, then type the website in brackets in supertext (ie. FANDOMUser [FANDOM]).

Date Published

With the "Date" field, write down the first day the AU appeared on the internet. This could be when the first post of it was made, or when the page was made on this wiki. If there are additional milestones for the AU, they can be put as well, using Tooltips to specify the milestone. If additional milestones are added, the publication date should also be stated. All dates should be added in chronological order.

Website

Within the "Website"/"Link" field, put down a link to the location that the story of the AU can be found and read. It is preferred that all story links be linked to a full list of all story parts if possible, or the first part of the story if the former is not possible.

More than one link can be added to this field, and it is recommended to add all relevant links here, such as DeviantArt groups, Tumblr blogs, and so on. Do not add an author link to this field, since those should be in the "Author" field.

When adding multiple links, they should be listed in alphabetical order in two different groups; Group 1 being sites where the story is located, Group 2 being websites related to the AU. Wiki Moderators have the right to decide whether a site is relevant or not, and have the power to remove sites from this field if they believe them to be irrelevant. Due to the structure and purpose of many sites on the internet, only sites in Group 1 count towards existence (see below). If a site is not explicitly listed in either list below, it should be filed into Group 2, following alphabetical order. Wiki Moderators, if needed, can decide that a website does count towards existence for an AU, even if the website is not listed in Group 1.

When linking sites, do not add a link to a specialized Wiki for the AU, since that is the purpose of the Template:OtherWikis template. The only exception is if it links to the story if it is hosted there.

AU Type & Sub-Type

Within the "Type" field, write down the AU Type. An extensive list of AU Types can be found on the AU Types Category page.

Within the "Sub-Type" field, write down the AU Sub-Type. The Sub-Types of each AU Type (that has a sub-type) are as follows:

Tone & Medium

Within the "Tone" field, write down the AU Tone. An extensive list of AU Tones can be found on the AU Tones Category page.

Within the "Medium" field, write down the medium the story is being told through. An extensive list of mediums can be found on the Medium Category page.

Status

Within the "Status" field, write down the current status of the AU. Popular statuses are "Ongoing", "Completed", "Canceled", and so on.

Creator, Co-creator, Writer, Artist, Composer, & Programmer

Within the "Creator" field, write down the one who created the AU, preferably following the same format that's found in the Author section.

Within the "Co-creator" field, write down the one who helped create the AU, preferably following the same format that's found in the Author section.

Within the "Writer" field, write down the one who writes the story of the AU, preferably following the same format that's found in the Author section.

Within the "Artist" field, write down the one who officially creates the visual art for the AU, preferably following the same format that's found in the Author section.

Within the "Composer" field, write down the one who officially creates the music for the AU, preferably following the same format that's found in the Author section.

Within the "Programmer" field, write down the one who writes the programming of the AU, preferably following the same format that's found in the Author section. Only used for AUs that are in the "Game" Medium.

Story Templates

The Story Templates are explained within this section.

Completed AUs

The Completed template is to be added to an article when the AU's story has been 100% completed, with no more plans for add-ons.

Semi-Completed AUs

The Semi-Completed template is to be added to an article when a complete story of the AU has been released, though the AU is planned to have multiple stories.

When this template is added to an article, a link to the stories completed is required to be added.

Canceled AUs

Canceled AUs include AUs that have been completely canceled by the owner, an AU that has been put onto an "Indefinite Hiatus" by the owner, or an AU that has not had a story update in a single year (365 days). When the Cancelled template is added to an article, the "time of last story update" field should be filled in with the date the last entry in the story was released. The time of cancelation, if publicly announced by the owner, should be the date of the announcement; else it should be labeled "Absentia", meaning in the absence of the subject.

An article should never have the Non-existent AU template on it in order to be considered Canceled, else the page is to be deleted for the "Cancelled" reason.

Missing AUs

The Missing template is to be added to an article when all postings of the AU's story have been deleted from the internet. If the entire story is reposted elsewhere and linked on the related article, this template can be removed.

Non-Existent AUs

Non-Existent AUs are AUs that have very little or no story content whatsoever. Exact definitions of what would be considered "existent" are related to the specific medium, and the definitions can be found on each medium's category page. The Non-existent AU template is to be added to an article if no story link is in the Infobox, or if there is not enough story content as defined by each medium. Since Non-Existent AUs are not allowed on this wiki as stated in the rules, articles marked with this template are subject for deletion.

A Non-Existent AU that is also a Community AU should not be marked "Non-Existent", since anybody can use the AU and create stories for it.

Community AUs

Community AUs are AUs that are effectively "in the public domain", meaning that they can be used by anybody without permission from anybody else.

While Community AUs are immune from being marked "Non-Existent", they can still be deleted for being "Non-Existent" at the discretion of the Wiki Moderators.

Delete Template

Articles that do not meet minimum standards as detailed in the Article Creation Rules, the Manual of Style, and Page Organization should have the Delete template added to the page. The Wiki Moderator adding the template is free to decide the exact time by which the article must be improved, so long as it is more than twenty-four hours after it is added. Specifics and summarizations as to exactly when the Delete template should be added to the page are listed below.

Lack of information in Introduction

As stated in the Article Creation Rules, all articles must have, at minimum, one paragraph of written text in the Introduction, no shorter than four sentences. If an article has four sentences of written text in the Introduction, it meets this minimum standard and has no fear of being deleted for this reason.

If an article has three complete sentences of written text in the Introduction, it also should not receive the Delete template. Instead, the article should have the Improve template added to the header. If an article has two complete sentences of written text in the Introduction, it should indeed have the Delete template added to the header. If an article has only one complete sentence or less, it should be deleted immediately without notice.

Improvement Templates Overflow

Articles that have three or more of the following templates should have the Delete template added to the header.

Once the Delete template is added in this manner, it can only be removed again by improving the article, resolving the issues specified in these templates*. Once these templates reach a population less than three, the Delete template is to be removed.

*If the WIP template is added to the article while the Delete template is there for the reason of Improvement Templates Overflow, the Delete template is removed and the page no longer under threat of Standards Deletion. However, if the article is not actively being improved, then it is automatically deleted. See Article Deletion: Instant Deletion - Bullet 7 for more information.

Template Removal

As stated on the Vandalism Rules page, removing most templates can get the offending user banned and the related page deleted.

If the Delete template is already on the page and a template is removed by an unauthorized user, the template is re-added with the time of deletion advanced by a maximum of seven days (was 18 days away, now 11 days away). If there is less than seven days before the article is deleted, then the responding moderator is free to instantly delete the page. If no Delete template is present when a template is modified or removed, the Delete template will be added and remain until all templates have been removed by a Wiki Moderator. If the offending user modified or removed the templates three or more times, they are banned for no more than three months at the time of page deletion unless the page is deleted more than fourteen days after the most recent unauthorized removal.
