This is an overview of the policy of spam. Spam isn't tolerated on the wiki.
Wiki-wide, this is the definition:
- Saying random statements without a legitimate reason.
- Posting copypastas of any kind, especially those that are made to scare people.
- Extremely long comments that don't actually say anything (the same phrase repeated over and over again/is (almost) completely blank)
- Posting images that are unrelated to the subject.
- Posting morbid, gruesome, or sexual images without warning is also spam.
- Posting low quality images is also spam.
- Creating templates or categories when you are not staff is spam.
- Advertising non-Undertale-related material.
- Advertising anything within edit summaries. The summary is to summarize the changes your edit did, not to serve as a basis for your advertisements.
- Talking about your real-world problems without a strict legitimate reason.
- Creating a forum thread telling the wiki that you are leaving. Nobody needs to know.
- Posting links to or advertising any other English Undertale AU Wiki of any sort (other than the Ideas Wiki, as it is part of the Network).
- "Undertale AU Wiki" is referring to wikis for AUs in general, rather than those centered around a single AU.
Articles
- Creating articles unrelated to Undertale AUs or articles that do not meet any of this wiki's standards for the sake of making a "joke" is also considered spam.
- Repeatedly creating character pages after being told not to do so is also spam. Character pages do not belong on this wiki.
- Placing internal links to (non-existent) character pages on articles is also spam. Again, character pages do not belong on this wiki.
- Pages created solely to feature a song are also spam. If the song is created for Undertale or an AU, add it to Fanmade Songs.
- Adding the fact the article is unfinished to an article is spam. The WIP template exists for this exact reason.
Userpages
- Adding any template that adds a category to a page. As these are necessary for wiki maintenance, they are not to be used outside of their intended purpose.
Threads
Forum
Along with the basic spam rules, remember to follow the rules of the board, and stay on topic to the thread.
- Posting on forum threads after 14 days can count as spam without permission from a mini-admin or above.
- Any thread can be deleted by a moderator for any reason. However, unless there is something verifiably rule-breaking within the thread, nothing more can be done.
Wall
Users can set up the rules for their own Message Walls. These rules will be enforced just as much as the site-wide rules. When a rule is broken, contact an admin, though it is up to the reporting admin whether the specific rule is reasonable.
The only rules not covered by this is a rule requiring users to reply via a generalized thread.
As much as users are free to have their own rules on their message walls, the rules of this wiki still apply (the Flaming rules, for example). Alongside those rules, the following are also enforced:
- Do not send unsolicited requests for AU usage to any user. Doing so is punishable with a minimum of a 3-month ban, and a maximum of a 6-month ban on the first offense.
Any of the above rules can be voided by a user's message wall rules.
Categories
Categories that are added without providing a benefit in organization of articles is spam. It is to be avoided, along with stuff like:
- Pointless Categories
- Duplicate categories (two or more for the same thing)
- Single-Article categories (for example, a category with the same name as the AU it is on)
- In general, any category not approved by staff
- Multiple categories that contradict each other (example: Comedic - Fell)
- Categories tied to templates that aren't being added by adding their respective template to the page
- These consist of any of the improvement tied categories, Completed, Semi-Completed, Cancelled, Non-existent AUs, Community Shared, and NSFW.
- The Undertale AU Wiki category
On blog posts, adding any category aside from Blog posts is spam.
Comments
Commenting is more lenient, but the rules still apply. Also, one who is commenting must post something related to the article, or if not replying to something else. If someone is replying, they must use the reply button.
- Simply commenting to post hate or to complain about an AU being "cancerous" or that it "should not exist/be deleted" is not productive and is considered spam, and is a blockable offense.
- Posting comments that advertise off-site material such as Discord servers or non-Network Wikis is not allowed.
- Roleplay of any kind is spam.
- Repeatedly posting comments that do not say anything meaningful is spam.
- Any comment can be counted as spam if the reporting Admin, ConMod, or DMod say so, though in this event no further action can be taken.
Other Languages
We are the American Wiki, so (American) English is the default language here. Posting in other languages is counted as spam, unless there is a good reason. If you don't want to speak/write in English here, then go to the wiki of the appropriate language.
- This also applies to the use of symbols that cannot be read by the average viewer, most notably, the WingDings font.
