Undertale AU Wiki

Welcome to the Undertale AU Wiki, the main place for documenting Undertale's AUs. If you wish to contribute, just know that it is REQUIRED for you to read the Rules and Guidelines and the Policy of the Wiki BEFORE doing so.

As this is an AU Wiki, this wiki is NOT meant for characters. The Undertale OC Wiki exists for those. This Wiki is also not meant for AUs that do not have presence anywhere else, and those should be put on the Undertale AU Ideas Wiki.

For other versions of Underswap, see Underswap (disambiguation).

Underswap MH is an Underswap take made by Miss Holoska where rather than the characters completely or mostly keeping or swapping personalities, they're a balanced mix of both. Generally, characters’ roles, surface-level personalities, ambitions/goals, and jobs are swapped as expected, but their original personality traits, morals, interests and -if possible- abilities are kept the same.

The AU was created to fix the parts of Underswap the creator didn't enjoy, like Papyrus' smoking or Napstaton barely acting like UT Napstablook. Originally it was just a concept for fun, but it grew into something larger later on.

Chara[]

  • They have 2 stripes on their shirt.
  • They're less silent than UT Frisk, and more blunt and critical, as well as openly weirded out yet amused about things. In genocide however, they are completely silent.
  • They're sassy and fairly intelligent and mature for their age.
  • Tends to laugh as a response to dangerous or traumatic situation, but not because they actually find them funny.
  • Very skilled at knitting, but are a bit embarrassed about it.
  • Like in Undertale, they climbed Mt. Ebott for unhappy reasons. While they hate humanity as a whole (not each individual) they still agree to be the monsters' ambassador to humans.
  • Likes white chocolate, though milk is their favorite.
  • Fell into the Underground with the Worn Dagger, but never attacked anyone with it.
  • Rather than =), -_- shows up in genocide when encountering a monster.
  • Their nickname outside of the AU is Charity.
  • Their Halloween costume is Pumpkaboo, the best Pokémon according to Miss Holoska.

Frisk[]

  • They were younger than Chara at their time of death.
  • They're a ghost floating around Chara.
  • They often talk outside of checking things, and their narration is much more personal, reflecting their own emotions and opinions and ususlly being excitable.
  • Sweet, thoughtful and Sassy around others, but tend to become sad when left to their own thoughts.
  • When they impulsively ran away home they left behind Temmie, their favorite toy. They weren't interested in the toys due to not wanting to play without Temmie, later making drawings as substitute.
  • They only have one stripe on their shirt and wear a monster soul-shaped locket, which they were buried with. They have messier and longer hair than UT Frisk.
  • They are too young to understand confusing science jokes.
  • Happstablook and Napstabot can hear them.
  • They don't like the genocide route.
  • Their nickname outside of the AU is Fate.
  • Their Halloween "costume" is a ghost/zombie/zombie ghost?

Temmie[]

  • Uses she/her pronouns as a fake identity.
  • She talks in the Temmie way as the persona Frisk created for the toy, though acts like Flowey.
  • Drops the Tem speech when serious, but never lets anyone see her drop the act.
  • Her body is Fangamer's Temmie Plush, or in-universe, Frisk's old toy, a knock-off of a popular brand toy.
  • She can still stretch out her legs.
  • She do not trust Sans (and the other way around) but pretends to be friendly around him.
  • She initially was more distressed by the reset powers.
  • Her nickname outside of the AU is Tem-K, which Chara comes up with in-universe post-pacifist, which they are less than pleased about.

Asgore[]

  • He originally declared war on humanity, but Toriel talked him out of it. Rather than facing up to the anger he instilled in his people and calling it off, he left for the Ruins.
  • He's less reclusive than classic Toriel, often walking around and talking to the monsters in the Ruins (some can't help to feel a bit intimidated by him though).
  • He doesn't keep the door shut in case Chara wants to back out of their plan.
  • His friendship with Papyrus goes further than the door, and Papyrus often visits him in person.
  • He has 2 different colored eyes.
  • He does not have a grudge towards Toriel.
  • His nickname outside the AU is Dandelion.
  • His Halloween costume is a wizard.

Maddy the Dummy[]

  • Tries to listen quietly when Chara talks to them, but immediately snaps at them for being "rude" and leaves.
  • Mid-game she changes her name to Maddy the Dummy after having a revelation when Alphys asks her to model a Mew Mew cosplay.
  • Post-pacifist she models clothes and wigs for a living, frequently changing her looks, and is also one of Napstabot's singers.
  • While she doesn't become Mew Mew, she still loves the anime.

Happstablook[]

  • He can come off as awkward at first, but around familiar company, he becomes much more of a charming performer.
  • Toriel is his snail salon's best customer.
  • He is a very active Undernet blogger, and together with Alphys the first to draw attention to recent events or drama.
  • He basically is the viral cat video creator of the Underground, but with snails.
  • While he is happy for his cousin he still quietly dreams of a little fame for himself.
  • He also loves writing in and collecting diaries.
  • Originally he looked like Napstablook but gradually changed into his current form when coming to peace with his ghost form.
  • Rather than tears, he attacks with ghostly glitter bombs. He also spooks his cousin out of their body with one in Waterfall.
  • He actually gets killed in genocide, unlike Napstablook in Undertale.
  • His nickname outside of the AU is Glamour.
  • His Halloween "costume" is a ghost/zombie/zombie ghost, just like Frisk

Papyrus[]

  • He still is the younger brother.
  • His stats are lower than in Undertale due to a lack of regular training, however, they're not as low as Sans' in Undertale.
  • He only sleeps when he is completely bored, which isn't often. He often has things keeping him occupied even when it doesn't seem like it.
  • He likes good puns, but not Sans' bad ones.
  • He doesn't smoke, instead, he noisily slurps single spaghetti noodles all the time to annoy Sans.
  • He cooks spaghetti for himself but isn't much of a better cook than UT Papyrus.
  • He still has a passion for puzzles and is responsible for most of Snowdin's ones, but he makes them just for fun rather than for his job like Sans.
  • He has social anxiety rather than depression (even though it's debatable if Sans had depression in Undertale), but still manages to appear chill on the outside.
  • He is Undyne's lab partner sometimes.
  • He has a sock collection like UT Sans and never wears matching pairs.
  • His eyes glow yellow and cyan and shows it on more occasions than serious battles. He has no orange attacks, like in Undertale he still uses light blue ones. He still has his "COOL DUDE" bone pattern.
  • In genocide he still gets killed in Snowdin.
  • His nickname outside of the AU is Noodle.
    • The Outer version's is Space Noodle.
  • His Halloween costume is his brother's outfit.

Sans[]

  • He still is the older brother.
  • He used to have 1 HP like UT Sans but raised his stats by training.
  • His stamina hasn't caught up with his increased stats and he easily exhausts himself from constantly rushing around. He naps less often than UT Sans, however.
  • He loves bad puns because he believes puns don't need to be "good", they just need to make people happy.
  • He calls himself "The Sans-ational Sans" for the sake of a pun.
  • He shares UT Sans' observation skills.
  • He likes standing on bones to match his brother's height, and this gave him an incredibly good balance. He also likes sitting on floating bones, sometimes hanging upside-down.
  • His eyes glow blue and green.
  • He still leaves socks lying around, but by accident.
  • He's still very capable to be gross, he just has some shame about it.
  • He hates making promises, as he dislikes having obligations to people and prefers to do things as, when and because he wants to, but if he makes one he keeps his word.
  • His hangout is at Muffet's rather than in his room.
  • He does not trust Temmie but pretends to be friendly around her.
  • He has a crush on queen Toriel.
  • He still is the genocide final boss.
  • His nickname outside of the AU is Neptune.
    • It used to be Blueberry until Miss Holoska realized the name was associated with the cringy fanonswap Sans.
    • The Outer version's is Neptunite.
  • His Halloween costume is a black cat.

Rabbit Guard[]

QC & QT[]

  • QT doesn't have a child yet, unlike her UT counterpart, as she is devoted to her job.
  • On paper neither are any higher ranking than the other guards, but everyone knows they’re basically the aunties of the Rabbit Guards. Both sisters care deeply for the other Snowdin sentries.
    • QC makes sure the members are all fed and uses her fire axe off-duty to bake cinnamon bunnies.
    • QT frequently checks their HP and ensures everyone is well-rested.
  • Their battle mostly functions the same as that of the Dogis, but since rabbits are prey animals they think Chara is a predator before they roll around in the dirt, and when they are re-sniffed and hop around imitating a rabbit, they think Chara is a baby bun and offer to care for them.
  • After the battle QC gives Chara a cinnamon bunny, which is a one of a kind item, since the Snowdin shop sells different food items.
  • QC finds the antics of the skelebros amusing, but QT worries whenever Sans naps on the job and offers to cover his shifts, which Papyrus is usually less than pleased about.

Harebrain[]

  • They openly admit to only joining the Royal Guard to try to impress hot guys, which includes Sans(y). Proudly wears their armour rather than having an outfit like Doggo's, because "hot guys love a rabbit in uniform".
  • Their use of blue magic is mostly accidental, as they are too drunk to control the fire magic within their daggers properly, and often turn the flames blue as a result.
  • Their personality is mostly swapped, but the fact that they're drunk all the time sort of masks that. Like UT Doggo, they tend to be suspicious of others, and despite their swaying vision they are fairly observant.
  • They're confused about why Sans isn't an official member yet.
  • Their battle functions exactly like Doggo's, but there is an extra step after petting them once they cannot find anyone: Chara has to pretend someone else pet them by pointing in the direction of an unsuspecting hot guy, causing Harebrain to chase after him, ending the battle.

Cinnamon and Nutmeg[]

  • Cinnamon is obviously not a baby anymore, and is a sweet little guy who wants to prove his worth in the hope that his sister will start to treat him like a competent guard and the young adult he is now, although he rarely speaks for himself.
  • He does love and admire his sister, he just wishes she wouldn't coddle him so much.
  • Nutmeg hasn't really let go of the image of her brother as a baby bunbun who she used to take on walks and still feels like she needs to protect him.
  • Generally she’s very sweet and giggly to everyone.
  • She is also the strongest of the Rabbit Guards.
  • Cinnamon’s battle functions similarly to UT Lesser Dog's, but his neck doesn't ascend into the heavens (that's still Lesser's thing). He can be spared by hopping around with him once, but the action can be repeated indefinitely and he'll just keep hopping faster and faster. He also has one option to be pet, but he won't accept it until after his name has turned yellow. He can later be found building snow bunny sculptures in the forest
    • His bullet pattern consists of a rabbit appearing to the side, hopping on the spot for a moment before summoning a magic lance and charging at Chara's soul.
  • Just before the bridge to Snowdin Town, Nutmeg searches for Cinnamon amongst the snow poffs and attacks Chara when she detects a trace of his scent on them. As with QC, QT and Cinnamon, Chara has to hop around and act like a rabbit to gain Nutmeg's trust. After her battle she gives Chara a big sisterly hug before heading back to Snowdin Town.
    • Her main bullet pattern consists of a rabbit keeping lookout at the bottom of the box - if Chara moves their soul, she yells 'bunbun' at them like Greater's bark attack.
  • Both also hang out at Muffet’s café, eating carrot cake with the other guards.

Burgerpants[]

  • He tries to be a friendly burger vendor, but he still is, you know, Burgerpants.
  • He's annoyed that the rabbit guard doesn't buy his stuff, as they either think he's a predator or just find him a weirdo.
  • He hates being wet, as he's a cat. Thus, he hates Waterfall.

Noelle[]

  • Only replaces the first Snowdrake encounter.
  • A young child who tries to be brave by exploring Snowdin Forest on her own.
  • She’s too timid to respond to any acts, but if Chara waits a turn she’ll try to calm herself down by singing a festive song, and can then be spared by singing along with her.

Dess[]

  • Like Chilldrake with Snowdrake, she only appears if Noelle is killed.
  • She's Noelle's big sister and very protective of her, following her from a distance to keep her safe.

Muffet[]

  • She is quiet and stoic towards new customers, but immediately sweet and welcoming once she has the money.
  • She sells carrot cake to the Rabbit Guard to get more money from them.
  • The other things she sells are webspresso, arachnoccino, tarantulatte, purple tea and spider cider for drinks and spider doughnuts (with a different flavour each day), croissants, spider cider cheesecake and savoury spider tarts for food.
  • She would still sell to you unlike Grillby in Undertale.
  • She is still overpriced, though not as overpriced as her classic self.
  • She doesn't give discounts and lets no one keep a tab, not even her most frequent regulars like Neptune.

Doggo[]

  • He often gets kicked out of Muffet's for smoking dog treats.
  • He likes Muffet's as he can see the spiders moving.

Snoey[]

  • She used to be a ghost (not related to the Blooks) living around the river between Snowdin and Waterfall.
  • She accidentally became corporeal after staying in Snowdin when she was sleeping in the snow.
  • She likes drawing in the snow and sitting/leaning on people's heads.
  • She uses snow, ice and fire magic, as well as blue attacks.
  • The fire on her scarf never spreads for some reason.
  • She likes Hotland and warm and spicy food, even though it could kill her.
  • She occasionally breaks the 4th wall by mentioning her art struggles or rambling about character developments.
  • She's more confident, extrovert and fiery than the non-swap Snoey.

Alphys[]

  • She doesn't like herself under the explosive personality but has more confidence in her abilities than in Undertale. She lives by the motto of "Fake it till you make it".
  • She shares UT Alphys's analytical mind and is good at focusing on situations and quickly figuring out how to deal with them.
  • She stutters when speaking normally, but trained it out of her shouting voice.
  • While her right eye is scarred, she still can see with it.
  • Unlike UT Undyne, she eventually manages to be honest about not wanting Sans in the guard but helps him train.
  • She is still a member of Happstablook's human fan-club the Underground's shipper extraordinaire.
  • Rather than playing piano, she listens to anime songs at max volume.
  • Toriel is a motherly figure to her.
  • She doesn't have an Undying form and doesn't fight in genocide.
  • Her nickname outside of the AU is Axe.
    • The Outer version's is Axeteroid.
  • Her Halloween costume is a spooky Mew Mew cosplay.

Asriel[]

  • He's Asgore and Toriel's nephew rather than their son. His parents are dead and he lived with his aunt and uncle until Frisk and Monster Kid died.
  • Due to his parents' death he's stuck at being 10 years old.
  • A respectable and kind of strange but very sweet local of Snowdin.
  • While he is physically 10 he's actually 113, and likes to mention this just to see people's reactions to this.
  • Due to his age he is very wise, but still prone to child-like joy and immaturity a lot, and easily impressed by cool adults. Also still a bit of a crybaby.
  • Often tiptoes to make himself seem taller and this occasionally makes him stumble.
  • He wears striped trousers instead of the traditional striped shirt to signify he both is and isn't really a child
  • Sometimes wears a cape that's cut out to resemble wings.
  • In Genocide, he's less oblivious than Monster Kid but tries to convince Chara to be kind.
  • His nickname outside of the Au is Sage.
  • His Halloween costume is a fallen angel.

Bored Dummy/Pom Pom[]

  • Fights because their cousin told them to get revenge on how they were treated, but don't actually care about it and just want to make their cousin happy.
  • They're shy, easily startled, and prone to boredom.
  • They still lack a body on the surface, so Chara offers to make them one, after which they take on the name Pom Pom.

Caveperson[]

  • He's viewed by most monsters as a mysterious and respectable person, as they were a powerful mage and prophet during the war.
  • Their dialogue varies from silly comments to unsettling advice.
  • They have Gerson's hat on their hood and a magnifying glass that occasionally has a dog face floating in front of them.
  • They sell both integrity items, a tea called Stalactea and some sort of mushroom, based on his "eat a mushroom every day" comment.

Floweys[]

  • Most people feel things ranging from slight discomfort to fear in Flowey Village, aside from Papyrus. After all, they're just a bunch of happy smiling faces calling you their best friend.
  • The Bob equivalent is basically canon Flowey personality-wise and hates everyone. One of the others usually quickly shuts him up however.
  • The shopkeeper Flowey only has 5 petals like the non-sentient golden flowers (this might change however).
  • He sells 3 kinds of Friendliness Pellets: Regular, Distant Acquaintance (which has a discount) and the expensive Best Friendliness Pellets. There is no difference between the 3.
  • Instead of a college fund, he needs the money for an armor selling license.

Gerson[]

  • He's a former warrior who finds life on the river peaceful
  • Calmer and quieter than his UT counterpart, but still quite jolly and keeps his laugh.
  • He tells stories of other monsters during his ride, but can never remember all the details.
  • He misses his old friend King Fluffybuns/Asgore.

Undyne[]

  • Her attack is still high, but not as high as in UT due to less and less intensive training.
  • While she seems quieter like Alphys in Undertale, her approach to science is much more like UT Undyne's "leap headfirst into it and see what happens". She's not stupid about it though, just (over)confident and enthusiastic.
  • When doing science or cooking (which are honestly indistinguishable from each other sometimes) with Papyrus, she acts much more like UT Undyne.
  • She doesn't stutter but sometimes trips over her words.
  • Not as crushed by depression about the Amalgamates, as she is in denial and believes she still can find a way to save them.
  • She lost her left eye, and made a fake eye to make it look normal, but she only has vision in her right eye. Her glasses with hologram screens have the controls built into the left side because of this.
  • She still plays piano and is better at it than UT Undyne due to her being more skilled in precise tasks.
  • She laces her spears with dangerous chemicals to give them special effects.
  • She used to try to race Gerson by swimming alongside his boat as a kid.
  • She still becomes Undyne the Undying in genocide, before which she hunts Frisk down in Waterfall rather than Alphys.
  • The replacement for Mew Mew Kissie Cutie as the anime Undyne likes is an anime called Sword GF. Alphys still likes Mew Mew, however.
  • Her nickname outside of the AU is Sci-Fi (Science Fish).
    • The Outer version is Sky-Fi.
  • Her Halloween costume is a vampire.

Napstabot[]

  • While more upbeat and confident than UT Napstablook due to Undyne's support, they're not as extravagant as UT MTT and their shyness in public is well known.
  • Their box form is affectionately called Napstabox, and the EX form is called Napstabot TRU.
  • Rather than starring in movies they make music videos, they also have a few TV shows but are less comfortable making them.
  • While their ghostly branding is known, people think it's simply aesthetic and don't know they're actually a ghost.
  • As they like their arms rather than their legs, they have noodly legs and bulky arms with music controls, although not as many as the TRU form in their box form.
  • When moved to tears by music, they create a dapper blook hat. Their TRU form's tear trails and the box form's screen light up to their voice or the beat, and the latter can display basic animations as well.
  • Their shoelaces are loose and they sometimes trip over them.
  • Their box form resembles old MP3 players, and has a pair of square headphones that become an awful trend in the Underground, making themselves off their own brand when they get normal ones built into their TRU body.
  • Their box form hovers by default but has a wheel-mode, opposite of Mettaton in Undertale. They mostly use this to slowly wheel away when they feel awkward.
  • They have longer hair than the original Underswap Napstabot.
  • They are fond of electronic music, mainly chiptune and electro swing. While they can sing, they usually prefer not to.
  • Their final battle is a live concert where you need to keep dancing and singing to get their song to the top of the charts.
  • Their NEO fight is actually a fight.
  • Their Halloween costume is a witch.

Bratty & Catty[]

  • Having some of 02′s personality, Bratty is a little quieter than her UT counterpart, but she still does speak up to finish Catty’s sentences.
  • Since 01 is the more talkative of that duo, Catty is not really any different from her UT self.
  • Both still have the same accents.
  • As Alphys is their boss, she never became distant from them like in Undertale and they both still view her as a big sister. They make regular trips to Waterfall to visit her house and scavenge through the garbage dump.

Grillby[]

  • While more lively than in UT, he still isn't talkative. Little fire elementals speak for him.
  • He has a barbecue instead of a bake sale, as baked goods are still Muffet's thing. The fire elementals in the Ruins have one as well.
  • Rather than purple, he turns your soul orange, making you jitter uncontrollably like you're standing on hot coals. He also fights with orange fire attacks and throws around burgers and fries.

Nice Cream Guy[]

  • He's not a creepy jerk, he just has a headache from Club Spook's constant music.
  • Primarily the club's bartender, but he sells frozen treats and milkshakes as well.
  • He also sells ghost sandwiches, but only to ghosts.

NSB Fans 01 & 02[]

  • They’re huge fans of Napstabot, wearing masks of their box form and camping outside Club Spook.
    • 01 has a mini Dapperblook hat and a figurine, and 02 square headphones and a plushie.
  • They still have their bro-speak and are already dating, as their mutual love of NSB brought them close faster.
  • 02 is more talkable than his UT counterpart, but 01 remains the more upbeat and sociable.
  • They get along well with Nice Cream Guy and are envious of him working for NSB.
  • Though they don't work for her, they greatly respect Undyne for having created Napstabot.
  • They sell an imitation ghost sandwich, both Justice items (armour is the same, weapon is different), and Napstabot’s mystery key, which they theorise is connected to him somehow but neither actually knows for sure.

Rudy[]

  • Works as a dad-jokey daytime DJ at Club Spook.
  • Still lives in Snowdin Town with his daughters.
  • In post-pacifist he works as Asgore's Rudolph.

Toriel[]

  • She has a crush on Sans after the True Pacifist route. She met him because Sans made knock-knock jokes through Echo Flowers.
  • She's much more reclusive than UT Asgore.
  • Desperately tried to call off the anti-human policy, but couldn't, and now she's trapped in her duty.
  • The first time she killed a human it was not intentional and tried to reason with all of them.
  • She uses a sceptre rather than a trident.
  • Is very angry at Asgore.
  • Her sceptre flashes rather than her eyes. She destroys the MERCY button with fireballs.
  • Her nickname outside of the AU is Orchid.
  • Her Halloween costume is the queen of Halloween.

Carol[]

  • She wasn't a mayor, but a leading community figure in Snowdin.
  • Possibly fell down from overworking herself, replaces Snowdrake's mom as an Amalgamate component.

Monster Kid[]

  • They were adopted by the Dreemurrs as a toddler. Asgore, bad at naming, called him Monster Kid, Toriel affectionately MK.
  • They often wandered the Underground without telling their parents, out of curiosity.
  • They wore a heart locket in the shape of a red human soul.
  • They were taught fire magic, but didn't live long enough to discover their own type.
  • Their nickname outside of the AU is Wish.

Snowy[]

  • A teen monster Chara doesn't encounter, but Toriel knows him through his parents and likes his puns.

Crystal[]

  • Alive and well, and lives with her son Snowdrake and encouraging his comedic hobbies.
  • She remains friends with Toriel.

Mr. Snowdrake[]

  • Fell down before Undyne's experiments.
  • Was an old friend of Toriel, although wasn't fond of her punny humor.

Location Changes[]

Locations are generally the same, aside from small changes matching the characters' placements.

  • The Ruins are filled with flowers rather than dead leaves.
  • The Ruins are still accessible after leaving.
  • Grillby's is replaced by Muffet's.
  • Snowdin has one more sentry station, as Sans manages 3 and Papyrus 2.
  • Alphys's house is dug underground closer to the lava level, and slightly farther away than Undyne's in UT.
    • The house doesn't have much of a kitchen.
  • The Blook Snail Farm is a luxurious snail salon.
  • Water channelling pipes lead to Undyne's lab to keep it cool since she still can't stand the heat.
  • MTT Resort is replaced by Club Spook, a hotel where music can constantly be heard on the request of the residents.
  • Toriel's throne room contains the dead tree and red leaves. The humans are buried below there so there is no coffin room.

Additional Changes[]

  • The relationships between Sans and Undyne and Papyrus and Alphys are much closer than in Undertale.
  • The genocide route is made to be more like classic Undertale, putting Sans, Papyrus, Undyne and Alphys back in their original positions.
  • Since Toriel has a magical weapon rather than a physical like UT Asgore, so does the guard.
  • The AU also has a canon Outertale version, and a Swapfell is in progress.

Story[]

Trivia[]

  • The AU's name is inspired by Swapfell KH, better known as Swapfell Purple or just Swapfell.
  • Alphys's scarred eye is swapped from where it is in classic Underswap to not make her and Undyne's injuries seem too coincidental.
  • Harebrain was chosen for the Doggo role due to their similarities in both using substances in some form, Doggo with smoking his dog treats, and Drunk Bun obviously being a drinker. And since Underswap MH Doggo keeps his inability to see unmoving things, Harebrain being drunk lines up with being unable to see clearly, filling the role of teaching Chara/the player about blue attacks.
  • While the characters have nicknames, it has no relevance in the AU itself and is just a way Miss Holoska likes to refer to them as.
  • Once someone asked if Snoey was based on Froslass, Miss Holoska said something along the lines of “Not intentional, but a coincidence I’m proud of, haha.”
