Underflub is an Undertale AU where characters mess up their lines, inspired by a post made by Definetly Not Robo Miau. GlitchedSnow and Furgolick10 then proceeded to further extend the concept, and both Bubalo1234, and Jasmyn Flowers would join afterwards.
Underflub is built on the premise that Undertale is some kind of production, going along with the ending of Hard Mode, when Toriel decides to just not die. The AU is based in Normal Mode, and follows the plot of the one time the characters didn’t rehearse very well.
Main Story[]
The AU begins when Flowey messes up one of his lines when first meeting the protagonist, causing many of the other characters to subsequently mess up their lines as well.
After Flowey messes up his first line, Frisk’s questions cause him to be unable to remember his name, causing him to guess random names. After the narrator steps in to help Flowey, Flowey tries to explain the game mechanics, but gets a lot of it confused, confusing SOUL and heart, and LEVEL and LOVE.
Toriel shows up early, and Flowey explains that he was slowed down by his mistakes. Toriel then makes a small mistake of her own, before showing the protagonist to the first puzzle in the ruins.
Although many of the introductory puzzles have various problems, Toriel manages to get to the pillar room with Frisk. Toriel then leaves Frisk while she prepares the house. Frisk is perfectly content to stay there, but the narrator persuades them to leave the room and follow Toriel.
Many of the other puzzles also have various problems, and the narrator eventually shows Frisk a shortcut to Toriel’s house. Toriel accidentally shows Frisk to the wrong room, and then runs off to stop her pie from burning.
Frisk decides to leave right then, and Toriel has to catch up with them. After Toriel tries to battle Frisk, and almost burns down the entire Ruins, Flowey appears and tells Frisk to LOAD their SAVE again. Frisk does, and is surprised when Toriel doesn’t remember what just happened. Toriel is about to battle Frisk once again, but the narrator keeps interrupting her with the wrong flavor text for her battle. Frisk ends up leaving without fighting. After another interaction with a confused Flowey, Frisk heads to Snowdin.
