The Brothers is an AU about Asriel and Chara created by Fantastical_Chaos. Not having much contact with other children, the prince wises for a friend one night, a wish answered by Chara climbing Mt. Ebott and falling Underground, after which Asriel finds him and takes him home due to him being injured. The Dreemurrs take him in, and end up adopting him into the family not long after. Although Chara struggles to see Asgore and Toriel as parents for quite a while due to the abuse endured on the surface, Asriel and Chara very quickly become like siblings to each other.

One day, however, Chara overhears a conversation he shouldn't have heard, about the combination of a human and monster soul being required to cross the barrier. And after accidentally poisoning Asgore with a pie, a plan slowly starts hatching in Chara's mind...

At chapter 18, a choose your own adventure situation occurs, either able proceed into the next chapters, or to disregard its last scene and proceed into the one-shot fic Our Story for an ending that's more canon-compliant to Undertale.
