Switchtale is an Undertale AU that "takes place" during a genocide run, due to Chara messing with the code and swapping everyone's places and roles.
Chara was tired of the player just using Frisk as a toy and killing everyone they cared for, so she went after someone that would believe them and maybe help them, but they found Papyrus and decided to not let the player kill them, Chara told him everything about Frisk, the player, the genocide, at first Papyrus didn't believe them, but Chara convinced him that they needed to stop the player and save the monsters from the genocidal player, so he agreed to help Chara. Their plan was to take away the player from the control, Chara had the chance of doing so in their first time meeting the player, but they lost that power, so Papyrus thought of replacing Chara, and since that would be his first time meeting the player he'd have the chance to giving an end to it, so Chara decided to change their universe and turning it into an alternate universe that not even the player would be aware of.
Not just characters changed, but also the fate of the war between monsters and humans. Even if humans were stronger compared to monsters, they easily were in conflict, because of politics, decisions, territory, and others, this conflict ended up making them destroy themselves and give advantage to the monsters that nearly killed all human kind, there were only two humans left, Frisk and Chara, the two were adopted by a royal scientist named Toriel Dreemur and her husband Asgore Dreemur, the two already had a child, Asriel, but now they had three. Even with the monsters winning, one species of monster though of themselves as superior, the skeletons, another war begun and the skeletons won, banishing the other monsters to the underground.

Sans[]
Due to his connection with Papyrus, Sans was swapped to the role of the protagonist and the 8th fallen skeleton. He wears a blue shirt with a single white stripe, shoeless. Instead of carrying a stick, he carries a bone with him, he uses it to kill in the genocide run. He still has the blue magic and the gaster blasters. He remembers the canon timeline and now is aware of the player. Still likes to make puns.
Froggit[]
A female frog corpse that was put together with Undyne's dust and ended up coming to life. Really agressive, "Kill or be Killed" mentality. Used to be able to control the world thanks to her determination, but lost that ability when Frisk's determination surpassed hers, and then Sans fell into the underground.
W.D. Gaster[]
Former king of the underground, divorced the actual queen/king of the underground and fled to the ruins. He welcomes the fallen skeletons with welcome arms, being that 'punny' dad we either love or get annoyed by. Wears a black robe with pants under it and black shoes. In genocide run, he'll try to stop you from getting out of the ruins because he knows you're a threat.
Muffet[]
A spider lady that has a spider pet, she's an introvert that doesn't talk much, but if you start talking to her she'll start getting excited and talking a lot, especially about her spider friends and candy. She wears a socialite hat.
Frisk[]
The non-binary older sibling of Chara and Asriel. They don't act like canon Sans, they're curious and don't fear the danger, people still underestimate them because they're human and don't know about them being the judge, laughs at Sans' jokes. They wear a black jacket with a pair of jeans and pink boots. Love orange soda and sells candy made from Muffet to help the spiders. Remembers the canon timeline and wishes to defeat the player. They have blue flames and can come back to life twice thanks to their determination, also got a flying skateboard from their childhood friend, Monster Scientist.
Chara[]
Chara is Frisk younger sibling, they're trying to join the royal guard because they want to work with Asriel. Their signature laugh is Ah ha ha. Puts chocolate in everything they'll eat or drink. Will only actually attack and try to kill you in genocide or if you attack them in neutral route. Remembers the canon timeline but acts like that never happened until genocide begins. They have red knifes and flames, being able to come black to life once
Faceblook[]
The restaurant owner of Snowdin, selling fancy food and some drinks too. He doesn't wear any clothes because he's a ghost but wears a black hat with a pink stripe and bow in it. He's egocentric, confident and really sociable, loves drama and action, often posing when talking and most of his conversations are about how his business is doing great, still calls people "darling". He's friends with Frisk, doesn't get much along with Chara and he misses his cousin Napstablook. Makes lots of sweets with his face in them.
Alphys[]
A child that has a lot of free time and dreams, but is really shy and unconfident even try doing what she loves. She admires Asriel for his bravery and sense of justice, wishes to one day talk to him and ask for advice without stuttering. Wears a yellow shirt with a white stripe, brown boots and little glasses. Managed to become friends with Sans since the two of them like scientific things.
Asriel[]
The captain of the royal guard, brother of Frisk and Chara. Only after Sans because he wants to give an opportunity for Chara to be powerful enough to break the barrier and they go to war against the skeletons. Can be charismatic and lovely, very determinated and can get easily mad if you insult him or the ones he cares about. He's secretly in love with the royal scientist, Monster Scientist. He can make flames, and in genocide he'll use rainbow cannons.
Whimsun[]
Even if he was supposed to be chaotic, he's actually pretty calm and sensitive, he sells moth plusies to calm you down when you're sad or in panic, since he knows how the feeling is bad.
Monster Scientist[]
The royal scientist that lives in Hotland. He's very energetic and charismatic, also being really curious, only became a scientist out of his curiosity in what he could create and discover. Gave robot parts to Grillby after he ended up in an accident in Waterfall, now the two help each other and Monster Scientist even helped him become an underground superstar. Really talkative and friendly with Sans.
Grillby[]
The Underground celebrity. Childhood friends with Muffet but the two ended up far from each other due to Grillby's fame. He's very chill even though he's flames, but don't think he wouldn't try to burn you. Unlike Mettaton, he's a gentleman, very well mannered and his dances are very formal, like a royal ball, mostly famous for his songs not his choreographies.
Napstablook[]
The vender of Hotland. He sells musical and technology itens, such as instruments, CDs, headphones, etc. He's a shy ghost that wears headphones most of the time, also having a black bow-tie on him. Differently from Muffet, some of his itens are actually buyable if Sans manages to get some money.
Royaltyperson[]
Quing of the Underground, ex lover of W.D. Gaster and parent of Undyne and Papyrus. The final challenge for Sans in the pacifist route. Determined to take Sans' soul and doesn't regret taking the other ones, believes they're right in their argument with Gaster. Instead of saying "Howdy" they greet people with "Tra la la".
Undyne[]
The Soulless Angel and the princess of the Underground, biological daughter of W.D. Gaster and Royaltyperson and adopted sister of Papyrus. Differently from Asriel and Flowey, her and Froggit are not much different.
