Rulesrune is an Deltarune AU solely created by Satans-little-dog on December 27th, 2018. It chronicles the going on of Ralsei, who (through outside influence) became the ruler of Dark world. Rulesrune is connected to the AU Underdetair (aka The King Frisk AU) which shares the same creator.
In this AU it is mandatory for a Darkener to wear gloves when in the presence of a Lightner because when a Lightner and a Darkener touch they fuse. Usually, the Darkener absorbs the Lightner, merging the two and making it impossible to separate them without killing one or both. Once a Darkener has absorbed a Lightner (this is usually not by choice) they can absorb other Darkeners as well except they have a say in the matter since they're now evened out.
Characters
Lancer
Lancer is like he usually is at the beginning. Due to an unfortunate incident with his father he has a clawed gash across his face. His father's dark magic makes it so he can only see the color blue. Lancer tends to ask Ralsei and Rouxls Kaard if he'll ever see a rainbow again. Unfortunately, he probably won't. Later on Lancer finds Susie injured and attempts to help her, not knowing the gloves rule. This, of course, results in them merging and he now sees Susie as his invisible friend. In battle he uses a boomerang and when knocked out Susie’s axe will spin above him. Lancer uses he/him pronouns only.
Roulxs Kaard
Rouxls Kaard was the same until the incident happened or what the dark world likes to call it "The fall of the spades". After Lancer had been injured, Rouxls took it upon himself to get even with the spade king and by even. Roulx beat the king to a bloody pulp and tossed him off the side of the castle. Of course, this most definitely killed the king and the kingdom was not happy. Rouxls, knowing about the great door, took Lancer and C.Round to the door to escape. The guards chased them and they barely made it in. From then on they lived with Ralsei. Things were fine at first until the merging happened. Lancer had gone off and Rouxls was worried where he had run off too. So he went to go look for Lancer, accidentally passing him and Susie. He then found Kris who was concerned where their friend went. Rouxls, not able to turn down any child at this point, agreed to help Kris find their friend when they heard Lancer yell "Dad! I'm lost!" Rouxls, in a rush, grabbed Kris and ended up merging with them. Rouxls Kaard is now a very silent person and seems to have some personal grudge against Ralsei. As if he knows something that he didn't before. Rouxls will occasionally talk to his soul but it's very rare for him to talk at all. Rouxls uses a fencing sword as a weapon and can summon lightning. Roulx uses he/him pronouns only.
Ralsei
Ralsei is about 5,11 in this AU. This makes him a bit intimidating but Lancer still loves him as if he was his own dad. Ralsei is quiet but will talk if someone talks to him first. He's pretty nice and tends to take care of things when Rouxls needs a break. After Rouxls and Lancer's merging with the Lighteners, he and Rouxls haven't gotten along. They tend to fight though, usually not physically because Lancer would notice. They do this often and it causes a lot of tension. Lancer thinks his dads get along great so they have to at least pretend to like each other when he’s around. Ralsei, though very polite, has a few skeletons in his closet. He's been caught by Rouxls trying to absorb C.Round and Lancer which has increased the distrust between them. No one knows who Ralsei merged with but he hates talking about it and seems to have developed a fear of flowers. Mostly big, yellow ones. Ralsei, even though he has poor eyesight, tends to avoid wearing his glasses because when he does he freaks out. Ralsei is fairly skilled in fire magic due to him practicing a lot. He also has vines, though extremely rare. He usually avoids using them at all costs and when he does it's purely accidental. Ralsei uses he/him pronouns only.
Fluffy
Fluffy, is the other half of Ralsei. Fluffy and Ralsei were split into two people due to being too strong. They are a fusion between Underdetair Asriel, Underdetair Flowey, Rulesrune Asriel, and Rulesrune Ralsei. Once the game realized something wasn't right, it split Ralsei to limit his power, thus creating Fluffy. Fluffy is chaotic and lets their bad intentions show. They think of the cycle of life and death as a game to be played over and over again and to play it to its full extent, he must be powerful. Fluffy and Ralsei share a similar goal with their need for power but Fluffy is reckless and Ralsei is careful. Fluffy uses any pronouns.
RK's C.round
C.Round doesn't have much to be said about them. They followed Rouxls Kaard and Lancer to the great door. They lived with them kind of like a pet, keeping Lancer company and out of trouble. They're a great guard dog. C.round uses any pronouns but mostly they/them.
Ghost Susie
Susie is fused with Lancer. Well, the word "fusion" is used quite lightly in this universe. Lancer didn't know the no touching lighteners rule and now Susie is a ghost. She's taken a liking to Lancer and thinks of him like a little brother. Even though she's a ghost, her axe can still touch physical things and she can make herself visible. Susie will sometimes act out of turn and block attacks for Lancer. Susie uses she/he pronouns only.
Ghost Kris
Kris is fused with Roulx kaard. They are kind of salty about their older brother, Asriel, leaving without saying goodbye. So they take their rage out on Ralsei by making Roulx hate Ralsei. Kris only talks and shows themself to Roulx but Susie can also see them. Kris can make a decoy soul in battle which makes all homing bullets go towards them. No one takes damage from this. Kris uses they/them pronouns only.
King Asgore
Asgore is the new king of the dark world as it seems the other 3 kings were assassinated during the fall of the spades. Before this, in Hometown Asriel has been deemed missing since he went off to college. It's been 3 years longer than he said and everyone was worried. So when Asgore went missing things got hectic. Undyne started doing more patrols and a curfew was set. The last place Asgore was seen at was the school. Asgore was helping fix some things and went to put something in the closet then he somehow entered the Dark World. There are multiple entrances and he just so happened to appear by the castle. The other kings were dead and the kingdom was in disarray so Asgore, being the kind hearted soul he is, did his best to help the people of the dark world. He was soon deemed the new king of the Dark world. But the stress soon got to him and he slowly became cold. Asgore has his trident and armor like in Undertale. Asgore uses he/him pronouns only.<
Jevil
Jevil is Just as crazy, maybe even more so than Deltarune. He's still imprisoned but this time he wants to make a deal with Roulx. He wants his soul. Jevil says that he can literally give Him the world if Roulx gives him his soul. He'll sing about it during his fight and increasingly get more frustrated when Roulx refuses. This Jevil loves to sing so more often than not he'll sing what he has to say. At the end of his fight, no matter how he’s defeated, he'll turn into a scythe. Usually Lancer and Rouxls Kaard leave since they find the dungeon creepy but Ralsei will stay behind and take Jevil for himself. Jevil uses he/him and they/them pronouns only.
Seam
Seam is the courtyard magician to the new king, Asgore. They're a fairly straightforward cat and prefer to keep their magic acts as a profession. They admit that They misses Jevil but is to scared to go and see him again. They're afraid Jevil will be mad for imprisoning him. This leads Seam to be a bit jumpy since they think Jevil might have it out for them. Seam uses they/them pronouns only.
King Frisk
King Frisk or now just Frisk trapped in Asgore's crown is sassy, salty, and way too hellbent on revenge. They were banished from their universe for being a bad king and lying to Papyrus about Sans death. The 6 human souls sent them away, trapped in the crown. They appeared out of the dark fountain in the card castle and Rulesrune Asgore, who just took up the role of new king, now wears the crown. Frisk uses they/them pronouns only.
Robbert, Bobbert, and Elli (Mr.Bubbles)
Robbert is kinda mean. Best friends with Bobbert and Elli. Bobbert is very happy and excited. He talks the most in the group. Best friends with Robbert and Elli. Elli doesn't like to talk. Best friends with Robbert and Bobbert. Likes girls. Together, they'll stack on top of each other and make Mr.bubbles. They have a rocket luncher that launches bubbles. Mr.Bubbles a a whole uses any pronouns. Robbert uses It/its pronouns only. Bobbert uses He/him pronouns only. Elli uses She/her pronouns only.
Dogtrio (Dog, Tri, O)
Dogtrio, 3 K.Rounds used as guards for the checker board. Together, it can summon the DOG. All three of the Dogtrio uses it/its pronouns only.
Locations
Hometown
Hometown is where Asgore, Kris, and Susie are from. It's currently on high alert due to the disappearances. Undyne is doing pertrolls, Toriel has started drinking, and Alphys feels as if it's her fault. Most of chapter 1 of Rulesrune takes place in the dark world so Hometown isn't important at the moment.
The Dark World Maze
The Dark world maze is that beginning area you fall into when starting the game. The puzzles there have been child proofed and railings have been put at dangerous drops. This place is where Lancer and Susie as well as Roulx and Kris merged.
The Empty Town
The empty town is not as empty with the Rules squad living there. Lancer uses the “?” shop as a clubhouse and the item shop is used for storage. Ralsei has started growing all sorts of blue and cyan plants to make it more interesting and nice for Lancer.
Ralsei's castle
Ralsei’s castle is where the Rules squad live. The castle is rather large but feels a lot like Toriel’s house on the inside. It has a large kitchen, a living room, dining room, 7 bedrooms, a greenhouse, 2 and half bathrooms, a library, and a basement that Ralsei refuses anyone to go into.
The Great door entrance
The Great door entrance is a large, detailed door on the far left side of the Dark world. The trees and grass around it are overgrown, mutated flowers have grown to amazing heights. Some suspect Ralsei grew these himself to hide the door.
The Field of Hopes and Dreams
The field of hopes and dreams has been well kept though, many of the flowers have spread throughout it. Many of the card castle kids hang out in the field due to how much running space there is. It is not guarded.
The Great Checker Board
The great checker board is now highly guarded by free roaming checkers. Most of the chess pieces have moved to the Card castle and the few brave pieces such as pawns, knights, and towers have challenged the checkers.
Seam's Old Shop
Seam’s old shop has been abandoned for a while. Stitches are coming out, buttons are coming undone, and the color is slowly fading due to leak of proper upkeep. Kids now use it as a hideout which has led it to fall apart faster.
The Scarlet Forest
The Scarlet forest hasn’t changed much. The bakesale has grown into a market and many people go there for all sorts of goods. Enemies are less frequent and signs have been put up to help people who have gotten lost.
The Card Castle
The Card castle has been repaired since the fire. Asgore has planted flowers everywhere and after hearing of the “Fall of the Spades”, a statue of all the kings and Lancer was built in the new courtyard outfront.
