The following is a summary made by the creator. ‘This au is about Hotarubitale, a frans au based on the movie Hotarubi no Mori e/into the forest of fireflies’ light. It’s based off the moment when Gin, the main character and Sans, disappears after being touched by the human, Frisk/Hotaru. Gin was once a baby on the verge of death, but Gaster, a spirit, took him in the forest of monsters and revived him into a skeleton child. Hotaru once got lost in the forest when they were six and eventually met gin, leading them out of the forest. Every summer, they met together and grew up together, eventually resulting in a blooming love. But Gin was a fragile spirit. if he touched a human, he would disappear. On the night Gin took Hotaru for the monsters’ summer festival, he mistook a human child for a spirit pretending to be a human and grabbed the child’s hand when they tripped. Resulting in Gin’s disappearance. That’s the entire movie, and the blog goes on from there.
Gin ended up as a ghost watching over Horaru, who still visited the village frequently. But eventually, Error Sans made his way into the au. He began to destroy it, even Hotaru along with it, yet Gin somehow survived. Trying to fight back, he earned a crack. but in time, Ink arrived and fought, taking Gin back in the omega timeline with core frisk. The asks begin here.
The first important arc is the discover of kin, the papyrus of the au and gin’s unknown brother. Gin never had a brother, so this was just something I made up on the go haha. Kin was an experiment made by a monster-human association with gaster in it. Gaster did the same thing he did with gin on kin, but in guilt and sadness, knowing Kin would just be an experiment for the association, not growing up as another son. But that didn’t stop him from treating him like a son one of the experiments on Kin was to try and merge a human’s soul trait with a monster’s soul. with permission from the forest’s king and queen who are still together, gaster took the first child’s soul and used it for kin, resulting in Kin’s cracks. But when Kin woke up from the experiment, things went horribly wrong and disaster happened. The determination was too strong for the little 10 year old, so with all the fear and resentment for the association, he ended up committing mass murder to the scientists in the lab, spare a few scientists and Gaster. Let a few years pass from the incident, gaster still loved this boy with all his heart. so, he made kin escape when he turned 15. Resulting from the escape, Gaster lost his job and lost every monster associations with the humans. As kin ran away, he met hotaru hotaru ripped half of the scarf they were going to give gin in the forest and gave it to kin eventually, kin met core frisk, who led him into the omega timeline he’s been living there for 5 years now. After a bit of meeting and arguing with gin, the two found out that they’re true brothers and became overjoyed a bit after that, a magic anon appeared and let hotaru live again and stay for a little while with the two. They bonded and hung out for a while but soon, they had to leave. It was a bittersweet end.
But we don’t stop there, oh no! I set up a prompt of what would happen if a flowey possessed gin. And I didn’t think i’d take it so far, but i did :^) Flowey, or tantan as we call him, possessed gin and wreaked havoc. Stole 7 souls with the determination trait and took it one by one as he fought the group. another au is introduced in, undergrowth. marigold, the frisk of undergrowth, was called by and is very close to Ink, giving him promises of protection and safety, much like ink’s promise to Gin. Kin was outraged by tantan. Gin, his only family left, was possessed by a demon flower he never asked for. Eventually, by the power of more magic anons, Gaster managed to join the fight and help, after getting put in the anti-void by Error, who came along to watch. Halfway through the fight, marigold gets shot with a blaster and dies. Undie and Sunny, the sans and papyrus who came along with marigold, became filled with grief and anger. Their only friend and savior, dead. (more emphasis on how their au works will be explained later in the blog). Soon enough, they win the fight. But after it, with Kin’s overwhelming anger, he took it too far and took the poor flower’s life. Gaster was outraged. Plan was, spare flowey and ask him questions. after all, it wasn’t his fault he came here to do what he did. It was the anons. Kin got slapped, and isolated by his father figure. On the other hand, Gin’s cracks increased, and is now healing. After waking up, Gin became overly worried and began to ask where the flower was. Wonder why… but after being told he’s dead, Gin was in disbelief. Ink soon finds out about a small au with a missing character. As Gaster was beginning preparations for gin’s check-up, gin got up and hugged his crumbling brother. He has forgiven him. But with a painful sting quickly appearing inside Ink, everyone knew that they had to act quick. Gin getting bed-ridden once again, Kin left the room. Gaster began to crumble himself, taking a break from gin and tries to calm down on a nearby desk. Ink had arrived earlier on, in worry and from the running, he sleeps on gin’s bedside. Kin soon comes back, old, dusty lab-coat ready with square glasses placed upon his sockets. The tall skeleton began to take over his father figure’s work and started to take care of gin himself. After a good while… Gin finally woke up. Things were getting better and better. He was happy. Kin was happy, Hakase was happy, Ink was happy. Everyone was okay. But then… but then… …he died.’[1]
