Farmtale (귀농테일) is an AU created by Korean-speaking user GuinongTale_AU. All the characters are passionate about farming and have left the city to return to village life for their own reasons.

Often considered a "Gag AU" because there is no killing and being killed in this AU, and the fact that the villagers have immense stamina. There seems to be no overarching plot as far as translation attempts by the Japanese community have gone. Simply put this is an AU focused on every day life in the countryside and the interactions between all the characters. The personalities of all the characters remains largely the same except for name changes for a few of them given the setting.

There are only two routes. Genocide (Gramoxone route) is when Chara kicks everyone out of the village and monopolizes the land to promote redevelopment. When the AU remains Pacifist it is considered a successful harvest season.

Characters

Sans (박새(세)준/박상주) Saejun Park

• Speaks in Chungcheong (충청도) dialect.
• Likes any oily sauce (soy sauce, sesame seed oil, favorite is ssamjang).
• Favorite ice cream is Melona.
• Wears floral printed pants, a straw hat, work gloves, sandles, and a blue jacket.
• Hates pesticides and gets angered when they're used.
• Calls out homi (a korean gardening tool) instead of bones, uses crops for battle. His eyelight turns green.
• Gaster Blasters are floating Cow heads—these are also used to help with tilling and such.
• Attack 1/Def 1.
• "do you want to have a bad harvest?"
• Fights in a field of judgement rather than a hall.
• If defeated during the genocide route he gets on the bus and leaves never to return.

Papyrus (박필수) Pilsu Park

• Is a sweetheart and often 'mothers' Sans.
• Makes Makguksu and distributes it to the villagers (no one likes to eat it).
• Wears a floral neckerchief, overalls, rubber boots, and work gloves.

Toriel (도리애/도리혜) Doriae/Dorihye

• An Elementary School teacher.
• Chara and Asriel's Mother, Adopted Mother to Frisk.

Asgore (안승고) Anseung Go

• Village mayor.
• Plows the land by hand (no cattle).
• Father to Asriel and Chara, Adopted Father to Frisk.
• Wears a chief's hat and a jersey that has (덤디덤) written on the back of it.
• Has a theme song.

Frisk (숙구) Suggu

• Leader of the village kids.
• Always carries a stick around.
• They live in the same house with Chara and call Toriel mother, though Toriel and Asgore aren't their real parents.

Chara (초롱이) Chorongi

• Frisk's second-in-command.
• Likes to tease and make fun of people/things, especially Asriel.
• If hit by a blaster in the genocide route Chara must plow the fields.

Asriel (안승리) An Seungli

• Chara's sidekick.
• Usually stays at Asgore's house due to Toriel and Asgore's poor relationship.
• Their name is a combination of Toriel and Asgore's.

Monster Kid (기득이) Gideugi

• Extra member of the children's group, the backup.
• Stumbles and falls often but is confident and strong.

Flowey

• Treated as the village Dangsan tree, he wears a rope belt which has five different colors hanging from it.

Alphys (임평화) Lim Pyunghwa

• Local "Macgyver", builds and repairs things with whatever is on hand.
• Professional Tiller Driver.
• Graduated from Engineering College which the village praises her for.

Undyne (윤다인) Dain Yun

• Gym Teacher.

Mettaton (마대동) Ma Daedong

• Plays Guitar; his guitar is his box form from classic UT.
• Runs a guesthouse.
• Often talks to the village well where Napstablook lives.
• Mettaton was going to be his stage name.
• Was a previous employer for Burgerpants back in the city.

Gaster (강승덕) Seungdeok Kang

• Lives on the mountain behind the village, is considered a grandpa.
• Is the "scary faced" man to Chara who is absolutely terrified of.
• He has a theme.
• Loves to eat mushrooms.
• Has stolen a watermelon from the village well before, but is just as scared of Napstablook as the other villagers.

Gerson (고손) Goson

• The Hammer of Justice.
• A native born and raised in the village unlike most of the other monsters.
• A war veteran.
• Huge fan of the "Go" champion Lee Se-dol.
• Familiar with "Hammer-style" folk remedies.

Grillby

• A Simmani - Wild Ginseng digger.
• Can't come down from the back mountain where he lives with Gaster as the ginseng he gathers always burns out in his touch.
• His clothing and the tools he uses don't burn.
• Once lost his arms trying to use rubber gloves Gaster gave him (They grew back).
• Works various side jobs to maintain his livelihood.

Muffet

• Runs the village Cafe.

Napstablook (수탁) Sutak

• The cousin of MTT.
• He fell into the village well when he was young and died.
• Napstablook was going to be his DJ name.
• He and MTT were close in their youth, but Nap's parents moved to the countryside while MTT stayed in the city.
• He and MTT have a favorite song they like to sing together.
• Though the villagers are scared of him they still draw water from the well, and even drop down watermelon for him.

Temmie (길태미) Temi Gil

• Village Idiot.
• After graduating college he moved to the village due to job shortages.
• Has a constant runny nose due to continuously drinking briquette gas by mistake. However this may be a rumor as he occasionally shows off an intelligent side.

Burgerpants

• Village Scarecrow - he got the job for free because he reminded Asgore of a scarecrow's appearance.
• Wound up in the village after struggling to get by. A coin flip on the map selected the village for him.
• Hates his job but feels he can't quit because it suits the skills he has.
• He can see who comes and goes from the village as it is small and he hangs in the middle of the field by the main road.

Nice Cream Guy

• A seller of Yeot (taffy) that does as he pleases, but also sells Dalgona and traditional Nice cream which comes with "Nice Riddles". Each sweet is sold on different days, and he only sells on rainy or snowy days.
• Likes to hang out with Burgerpants while he's working because Burgerpants can't move and finds it funny.

Riverperson

• Town bus driver who only operates 4 times a day.

Trivia

• The main crops harvested are Rice and Vegetoids, however, Vegetoids aren't eaten, the green vegetables they spit out are.
• Creative Freedom is encouraged and so is the production of fan merchandise so long as it isn't monetized.
• Unspecified designs for the characters are allowed so long as they are country clothes.
• Genocide route is named after the pesticide.
• Not everyone speaks the Chungcheong dialect.
• Farmtale Sans is most popularly shipped with Horrortale Sans, the names for this ship are; Rottoncrop, Saejun/Horror (새준 호러), and Farm/Horror.
• Farmtale gained a boost in popularity around the time of Japan's official localization 1 year later when Sans was given the pronoun "Oira" which has rural connotations. This lead to art of Farm Sans being produced as part of the "Oira" hype as a meme. As of the announcement from Fangamer of the third book on localization dated Nov 23, 2022 there has been an image included depicting "Oira" Sans, that has been adopted as a semi-offical design by a part of the community.
