Desperate Times is an AU inspired by Underfell, the AU where monsters are evil. It is set in an Underground where the events regarding the Dreemurrs led the Underground to fall into a downwards spiral. Crime is popular, and things are generally unsafe, with people being in a bad state of mind. On top of that, the guard became corrupt and vile after gathering the 6th soul, and according to some, worse than the criminals they fight.
Rather than Frisk, the protagonist is a human named Leer with an unknown soul trait, described as empty by SAVE Points.
Characters[]
Flowey[]
Flowey is mad and sadistic, enjoying seeing the bad state of the Underground and loving to mess with Toriel and Papyrus.
Toriel[]
Toriel is the Caretaker of the Caracombs, who has slight depression. She got heavily wounded when the 6th human tried to kill her, and has been distrustful of them since, adults especially. She is mostly unaware of the Underground's current state.
Napstablook[]
Napstablook's state isn't the best, with their snail farm making no money and their only relative disappearing, the latter of which they blame somebody for, though they keep it hidden. Their passion for music is fading.
Sans[]
Sans is a criminal, and acts serious and mafia-like, though still being like classic Sans deep down. He's proud of Papyrus and deeply misses him. He has the nickname Skelepin,
Papyrus[]
Papyrus was formerly a member of the guard, but as the guard became worse, he decided to get himself court martialed. He became the "hero and savior of Snowdin", protecting the town from crime as the guard doesn't do it. He's not on good terms with his brother, and while he claims he's not family anymore, he is not happy about it and secretly misses him. He now lives in a tent in Snowdin Forest.
Grillby[]
He is the "right hand man" of Sans, though best friend is more accurate. He still has his bar, but isn't there often anymore, and he lives with Sans now. He's very strong, and the main reason the gang is still around.
Undyne[]
Undyne is the relentless captain of the Royal Guard, and while she used to be more like classic Undyne, after claiming the 6th soul she changed for the worse, and the guard followed suit. She finds both Papyrus and Sans a disgrace to monsterkind, and despises the latter, with the guard and his gang having had many confrontations.
Asgore[]
Asgore is cold hearted, and no longer a king, but an emperor.

- Rather than Mt. Ebott, monsters are sealed into a canyon, called Conflict's Canyon.
