Deltarune (stylized as deltarune) is an in-dev computer game by Toby Fox. Chapter 1 was released October 31, 2018, and chapter 2 was released September 17, 2021. Three more chapters have been announced, with the third and fourth being close to complete. The game's chapter select screen suggests at least two more chapters beyond that are planned, for a total of at least seven.
The story so far follows Kris, the controllable silent protagonist, and Susie, a violent monster, living in Hometown. The not-so-ideal duo at first stumble upon a "Dark World" inside their school's storage closet, and meet Ralsei—an Asriel lookalike who joins the party on their quest to seal a Dark Fountain that can cause damage to the world.
Trivia[]
- Despite the confirmation that Deltarune was indeed an AU of Undertale, it has also been suggested that there may be connections between the two games.[1]
- Deltarune is the only official Undertale AU.
- Despite only having five chapters announced (including the two already released) and the menu screen indicating seven, the game's files contain logo animations for an eighth, ninth, and tenth chapter, making the planned length of Deltarune unclear.
- Deltarune has been in development since before Undertale, with a few music tracks in Undertale having originally been intended for Deltarune.[2]
